The Effects of Vocational Rehabilitation on Quality of Life in a Client With Depression: Case Study

Abstract
Objective : The purpose of this case study is to investigate the positive effects of meaningful vocational rehabilitation by applying occupational therapy intervention for depression disorder client to improve their quality of life such as their definite plan after being discharged from the hospital through case.

Methods : The client was a 45-year-old woman with depression disorder. First, Beck Depression Inventory(BDI) and Canadian Occupational Performance Measure(COPM) were administered to examine effectineness of occupational intervention.

Results : The result of this case study is shown that significant differences were found in score changes in all areas, BDI score changed from 51 to 30. The COPM performance and satisfaction scores changed from 3 to 5 and 5 to 7.3 respectively.

Conclusions : When providing vocational rehabilitation in occupational therapy intervention which clients needs, meaningful changes for client¡¯s degree of performance and satisfaction were found. It can be suggested that when client is discharged from the hospital, we should put in an effort to provide the community service what they want in order to maintain independence and return to their life successfully.
